Now I mentioned as an end-note to one of my posts on the weekend that I was off to look at houses and  most likely drown myself with a mortgage. Anyway, I’ve recently read that James May aka “Captain Slow” of Top Gear fame is deciding to build a full scale house on his property made of Lego as a part of his TV special, James May’s Toy Stories. According to the article the plan is for everything in the house to be made out of Lego including stairs, showers and even the fucking toilet?! Geez… So far over 3 million bricks have been delivered to the property with possibly more required.

So  anyway, in case you didn’t know I’m quite the fan of Lego combine this with the frugalness that comes with being Asian I started to think, “Would it be cheaper to build a house out of Lego instead of buying one?” Now assuming that 3 million bricks is required to build a two level house that should be more than enough for me to create a tiny little unit and furnish it… So time to whip out some token Asian maths skillz:

• Real House: $320,0000 loan + $20,000 furnishings = $340,000 +interest etc.
• Lego House: 3,000,000 2×6 Lego bricks @ $0.34 = $1,020,000 +interest etc.
  

Ummm… Shit. Oh well, one can dream. One thing is for certain, my house is definitely getting a foosball table…

An interesting article from the NY Post regarding Wacko Jacko’s upcoming auction, April 22nd to April 25th for those playing at home. Apparently over $2 million USD has been spent to recreate Neverland at this auction event with a measly target of $20 million to be raised. Spare change really…

Reading on I do feel a bit bad for Wacko since a lot of the items haven’t been cleared by Jacko to sell and may have sentimental value.  Awww… I’m sure he won’t miss his Afterburner, T2 or Simpsons arcade machines. Fark!? The guy has at least 3 of them while browsing through the 900 page auction catalogue… That’s right, 900 pages. Wait, there’s a full-sized Lego Darth Vader?! LEGO?! VADER?!

I’m wondering if Jacko was actually a bit of a nerd also with all his movie collectibles. Oh well, whatever gets those kids through the gate…

Great article from Gizmodo posted a while back on the  evolution of the classic Lego minifig. So many memories… Having a look through and I’m spewing that I’ve lost my classic astronaut set. That kit was the bomb! That and constantly nagging for that pirate ship. If only I had the insight to tell the folks they’d be future investments. That, or gone absolutely toddler apeshit and cause a tantrum in the local toyshop… Word on the street is these bad boys if complete can fetch close to $200US+. Sound investment I reckon during the GFC eh?

Mmmm… So much Lego Star Wars… Maybe Ruddy’s handout will mean I can finally get that Millenium Falcon…
