The newest, freshest, dopest, hippest club on the St Kilda block Pretty Please will be opening on 22nd October. Occupying the space where the old fight club Area 51 (or 61?) was on Fitzroy Street, this club will be similar in style to New Guernica and Sorry Grandma! (when it was underground cool) in that it’s not just a rebranded party night at an old venue.
Pretty Please will also be taking a different approach to entertainment booking, with an offshoot of Mushroom Records and Michael Gudinski touring (his son Matt) running the show, while a different team manages the running of the bar (including me on the team :D).
In addition to strong support for Australian electro/hipster/disco/party/modular/indie DJs, and internationals who’ll be playing, what has really sparked my excitement is the booking of Chase & Status, Sub Focus and Nero for the coming weeks… great to see overground Melbourne support for their UK sounds. These guys are all pretty much mainstream in the UK, and even Sydney has a strong fan base, now it’s Melb’s turn to get on the trolley :D
Artists who will be playing the CDs and laptops… massive:
Anna Lunoe, The Aston Shuffle, Baio, Jaime Doom & Gus Da Hoodrat, Canyons, Dcup, Deacon Rose, Dublin Aunts, 96 Bulls, Hook n Sling, Knightlife, Joyride, MAFIA, Miami Horror, Mat Cant, Muscles, Oohee, Opulent Soundsystem, Scattermusic Soundsystem, Sampology, Shazam, Spinderella, Van She Tech.
