Moves to resurrect “Hey Hey It’s Saturday”

Yep, they're back...

Fans are trying to exert pressure on the Nine Network to bring “Hey Hey It’s Saturday” out of the mothballs after ten years, reports the Melbourne “Herald Sun”. A Facebook fan page for “Hey Hey” has a petition for the show’s return and in three months has almost 10,000 supporters. The number of fans joining the petition is growing by 100 or more a day, the paper claims.

Former host Daryl Somers says “It’s not out of the question.” There have been discussions with David Gyngell (Nine chief executive officer) and Michael Healy (director of programming) about a cast reunion show but the fans want something permanent.

The show, which ran for 28 years, always provided strong support for contemporary music in its content, and its high ratings during its golden era helped break many acts. International acts would reschedule promo tours to get on, even if it was to fly to Melbourne from other parts of Australia just to appear. Really? Wow…

The latest news is that the show is going to be back on TV for two specials. Read more about it from far more legitimate sources HERE.

    • Hey there! How you doin'? Not much to say really apart from that we're a couple of Melbourne kids that take pictures and write about stuff we like. That’s pretty much it…
