Ok its only taken me like 3 months to pop my blog cherry but after a little convincing from Noodle G I thought I would get my ass into gear. I’m going to start of with a new DJ/Producer crush of mine……RIVA STARR!!!.
This is his essential mix and I must say I have been flogging the shit out of it. This guy is touring in May as part of the Creamfields festival so as Molly would say “do yourself a favour” and check him out and go rock it with my fellow Italian….MAMMA MIA!!
“Naples born, London based, DJ & Producer Riva Starr takes control of the Essential Mix. He’s one of 2010’s hottest properties and has recently remixed the likes of Fatboy Slim, The Gossip and Reboot. His new album, “If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade”, has just been released on Jesse Rose’s Made To Play Records. The mix features exclusive tracks from his new label ‘Snatch!’”
“Riva Starr is a name that should be very familiar to anyone with an interest in modern house music. Having shot to the top after a string of head turning releases and remixes on some of the most talked about labels, Riva Starr couldn’t be hotter right now. What’s quite remarkable though is how quickly Stefano Miele, aka Riva Starr has established himself so prominently on a DJ/producer circuit that’s notoriously difficult to break into. It doesn’t hurt that Claude VonStroke and Jesse Rose, the two men who sit on top of the pile, happen to be two of his biggest fans.”
This timely segment on the Colbert Report comes as I am planning my trip to London and travels around europe, and illustrates how my australian dollar will now purchase more EUros!
There is also mention of skinny jeans, which myself and head PartTimePap honcho NoodleG plan to design, after moving to New York a la awesome new TV show “How To Make It In America,” as well as designing New Era baseball hats, T shirts, hoodies, skateboards and other ghetto fabulous crap that can be sold on karmaloop!
And so the end of summer has arrived and as expected the weather has gotten, well let’s say a little different. Truth be told, the post pic above isn’t that far from the actual conditions that have lashed out over the weekend – epic rain, flash floods, thunder, lighting, golf ball-sized hail…
Anyway, this week’s tracks are after the jump… (Well, technically they’re last week’s tunes but it was my last week at my old job = flat out transition/wrap-up, and I was sick so boooo!)
Bruce muthafuckin’ Willis! This is the official HD promo video for Gorillaz‘ new single ‘Stylo’, taken from the new album ‘Plastic Beach’. The album is slated for a March 8th release with a diverse spectrum of collaborators including De La Soul, Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg, Bobby Womack and Mos Def to name a few…
Sorry about the cheesy header… So anyway, what happens when the two hottest Dutch producers going around at the moment finally get together in the studio? You get a pretty bangin’ monster creation… Here’s a sneak peak of what the EP has to offer:
I sometimes wish I had a clone. Then I would’ve been able to have seen both Jack Beats and attend my mate’s epic poker/Arnie movie marathon the same night earlier on this year… *Sigh*… Anyway, apologies for letting this one to sneak up all stealth-like. After you give this Essential Mix a listen you’ll agree it’s anything but stealth…
Tracklist is after the jump and it’s mutherfuckin’ epic! And for you jza, even that god-awful Doctor P track, ‘Sweet Shop’ gets dropped haha! Not to forget 16-Bit and a few other dubstep tracks…
A banging ghetto/electro house mix here from Ninjasonik for Mishka’s ‘Keep Watch’ series. I’m pretty sure I may have missed out posting a Mishka mix last week so apologies.
First stumbled upon Chilly Gonzales about 2 years ago when Boys Noize remixed his single ‘Working Together’. Wind forward the clock and Gonzales returns the favour with his amazing version of last year’s rave epic ‘Waves’ by Erol Alkan & Boys Noize.
To celebrate his current US ‘Pillow Talk’ tour featuring artists like A-Trak, Andrew WK and Sia, Gonzales has released a piano mixtape for your listening pleasure. The mixtape features interesting mix of piano and orchestral sounds layered over the original hip-hop and electro beats of the tracks covered.
The UK’s legendary Club NME is heading to Australia this February, with the first of what will be a series of regular club nights!
