The Weekend Warrior – Partners In Crime

We interrupt our regular edition of The Friday Night Warrior on YouTube to deliver a big announcement. In another huge milestone, The Weekend Warrior and Melbourne hot spot Roxanne Parlour have joined forces.

What does this mean for The Weekend Warrior? Exclusive news and access to the latest events over at the indie-dance spot. There will be spotlights on the artists on our weekly mixtapes and here’s the best part.. you can get early bird / first release tickets to these events from The Weekend Warrior!

In preparation, The Saturday Night Warrior will be in hiatus this week. The STROBE party featuring Miami Horror DJs, Van She Tech, 1928 & Sleeves & Rollerboy at Roxanne on Friday 12th has sold out. However, the spotlight turns to the week after on Friday 19th when progressive house and minimal tech guru Gui Borrato from Brazil stops by Roxanne for the official launch of Haul Records. He is an amazing talent comparative to the sounds of Deadmau5, Sasha, John Digweed & Nathan Fake. He will be supported by the likes of Mike Callander, Dave Pham and more. A nice breather from the hard electro gigs of recent, Gui Borrato’s blissful sound is a gig not to be missed.

Limited early bird tickets are available from The Weekend Warrior for $38, otherwise will be $42 at the door. Drop us an e-mail or contact Kessie James if you’re keen.

We will see you next at the STROBE party! Stay tuned for more during this exciting time for The Weekend Warrior!

Steve Aoki and Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo are… Rifoki

Rifoki is the new hardcore punk project of Steve Aoki and Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, better known as The Bloody Beetroots. From the PR machine:

Before they were DJs and producers, before electro, and before they rocked the clubs, Steve Aoki and Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo were punk rockers. Rifoki is the maximum level of expression of a lifestyle that has brought them to be two of the most recognised DJs and producers in the world.

And for your ummm, listening “pleasure” a track off their forthcoming EP, due out March 9th on Dim Mak Records. Track download link after the jump…

Glitch hop will make you jump

Real muzicianz

Became a fairly recent fan of the Glitch Mob, and glitch hop after some late night myspace cruising… electro-ish noises, hip hop beats and time signatures, pretty much the ultimate in gam3r music

Check out their “Crush Mode” mix tape

and watch the hilarity of a San Franciscan geezer who deems music to be only something that can be played on g-tars, not “computer technicians on mpcs and laptops”

and also more hilarity as Travis Barker plays a live drum solo at a live Glitch Mob computer technician gig and is vertically lifted into the air while still banging skins!!
